Professional Bio

I’m currently an junior undergraduate student at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs studying geography and environmental science. My academic passions lie in cartography, urban planning, GIS, and creating sustainable food systems.I am rapidly gaining skill in remote sensing, cartographic design principles, the creation of thematic maps, and geographic analysis via ArcGIS, Google Earth Engine, R Studio, Avenza Map Publisher, and Adobe Illustrator. My previous work in retail and healthcare granted me skill in leadership and management, scheduling, and the Microsoft Suite. In the short-term I hope to pursue post-secondary schooling and further my education. There is still much for me to learn in GIS and before I start my career I would like to learn more and contribute my own research to the field. Before I started college I worked as a medical assistant in OBGYN working with women and transmen from all walks of life. My work in the medical field exposed me to many people in their most vulnerable and I strengthened my empathy, ability to take accountability, learned to perform well under pressure, and solidified my core values. Acting with responsibility and taking accountability can be the difference between life and death in healthcare and I took that mindset with me and have applied it to everything I’ve touched afterwards.
